7th September 1953: Sam leaps into the life of Doctor William ‘Billy’ Beaumont PhD., a travelling rain-maker who has returned to his drought-stricken hometown. Billy’s arrival is met with much jubilation from his friends and family – apart from his brother, Ralph, who reception is extremely hostile. When Al arrives with the news that the drought will continue for another eight months, Sam’s mission seems clear, and so, with the assistance of Billy’s apprentice, Clinton Levering, he sets about finding a way to make it rain; unfortunately, Sam quickly comes to realise that Billy is nothing more than a con-man – and when Ralph’s wife, Annie, finds her love for Billy rekindled, Sam realises that his true mission is to save Billy’s brother's marriage…
